Okay, so I’ve been busy building the RobynColeArtworks web site. Have had my head down and shoulder to the grindstone and all that.
So 10 days ago I received an email from a writer for a web site called “Second Act.com”. This site is about people who, in mid-life, reinvent themselves. It’s about how to make your “Second Act” even greater than your First Act. Here’s their banner from their web site:
Either way they wanted to write about my favorite subject: ME!! (ha ha, joking ….
…um, NOT!…..no, really, I’m joking. Okay, okay, so all I think about is me….so what?)
The article came out one week ago today. If you’re still interested, click here to read it.
If not, check back soon. The next story is about bridges….and lemme tell ya, we’re going to “cross over” some interesting topics. (Do NOT laugh….it just encourages me.)

I was waiting to read your interview and I certainly enjoyed it. We are sure missing Boquete and particularly our friends – wish next May would hurry up and get here! Continued best wishes on your studio and your artistic endeavors.
I understand about wishing time would hurry up. all of last year, between June and February of this year, it dragged at times. Other times, it went really fast because I kept myself really really busy. Before you know it, we’ll be seeing each other on a regular basis!
Robyn, great article, sent it to my friends!! Learning more about you all the time with lots of things in common. We also checked out Costa Rica but decided on Panama. We found out we won’t be able to get our residency until after we move because I don’t want to retire until I move because of good old “health insurance”. We won’t be eligible for SS for a couple years. We are hoping to make the move by May of 2012, my time is dragging too, going to have to make a trip to Boquete soon. Do you get the discounts in Panama that you mentioned even if you don’t have residency or did you get your residency before you moved? Keep writing, love reading anything that you write. jeanette
Yes, I understand about not being able to retire because of health insurance costs. But at 56 with a hubby of 67, I didn’t want to wait until 65 to get Medicare. So we’ve bought health insurance down here where the medical care is on par with the U.S. and about a fourth of the costs. Yes, I get discounts and we do not have our “pensionado visa” yet. It is in the works and we have a temporary card which gets us the discounts. Sure is nice getting 25 to 33% off prescriptions.
Keep reading, I’ll keep posting stuff. In fact, just put out a long post just now.
We were in Boquete a few weeks ago. We were hoping that Betty Dabney could find time to introduce us but it didn’t work out. Yes, I read your blogs. My husband, David, and I will be back next summer for about 2 months so I hope to meet your then. We are planning the big move to Boquete from Fort Lauderdale but don’t retire for 3 more years – or 540 student-contact days. Thanks for the smile you bring.
Cindy
Oh, I LOVVVE Betty Dabney! She was one of the first people to visit my studio and she is president of Boquete Artworks. I really admire her coming down here by herself! Maybe we’ll meet next time you’re in town! Are you Cindy Crawford Thomas? I think I accidentally “unfriended” you on FB. I went through a did a cleanout of all names I did not immediately recognize. (People from Russia, etc). If that IS you, please re-friend me, okay?
Yes, I’m Cindy Crawford Thomas and I friended you. Next summer, unless we get some really good airfare to PTY sooner, we will be there and will definitely come to your shop.
Keep in mind it’s not a shop. It’s a working studio. I don’t sell out of that place or anything, and I don’t keep regular hours. But who knows….by next summer, maybe it WILL be a shop!
