I have property in Panama and have played the course when it was just 9 holes. Had to play them over to get 18. One should know that during the rainy season it is pretty dry in the morning and maybe the rain starts in the afternoon some time. This country gets up early. Get out on the course early and finish early. As for refreshments, Bianca the snack cart girl had frosty Balboas for a buck each. Balls were pricey and so I bring them down very year. Looking forward to playing the whole course now, even though I do not have my own clubs here at this time!

I do not believe they have a business with their boat. This was a donation for charity….an offer to take 4 couples out on their boat for a day. So, I guess, yes, it was just a one-time trip.

Awesome as usual! You remember what we said about Las Lajas – “nothin’ fancy – just a nice empty beach with nobody there.” How could you possibly go wrong? The course now has 18 holes and they are beautiful. I hear a couple of the greens, though, are in bad shape, due to a fungus that attacked them. The road has been improved, only because a new development prior to Lucero has torn up the road with their huge trucks. they’ve filled in the potholes, and we’re all hoping with the new money being spent in the area tht the road will be improved within the year. Nothing definite, of course! Thanks for writing!

Hey Robyn,

Thanks for the update on Cielo Paraiso – aka Lucero. I haven’t checked in a while. Is it the same owners different name? or all new? Also, it’s been a few years since I was in the area and the course was just getting ready to open the first 9. I’m hopeful the road from the main highway has been fixed up. Can you shed any light on that? Planning to visit this winter and curious how big an SUV I may need – last time we rented a Yaris and almost lost the poor thing in the ‘pot’ holes! Thanks!
